What is Organic Gardening?
Organic gardening can be described as an all-natural approach that connects the essence of gardening with Nature to create an environment that is beautiful and productive for humans and compatible with all other creatures that share space. At GroBetterTM we also believe it is a respect for the environment and being good stewards of the earth.
Organic versus Inorganic
Fertilizers, or plant food, can be divided into two categories: organic and inorganic. Organic fertilizers are derived from organic materials of plant or animal origin. Organic materials consist of manures, green waste, all of which can contribute to soil productivity. Inorganic fertilizers are derived from chemical process and are often man-made. Application of inorganic fertilizers is often limited to immediate nutrient availability to plants.
Benefits specific to organic fertilizers include:
| • | Slow release of essential plant nutrients for longer feeding |
| • | Feeding of micro-nutrients such as manganese, calcium, boron, sulfur, zinc, copper, iron, magnesium, chloride, and molybdenum |
| • | Greater nutrient retention in spite of possible over-watering |
| • | Addition of organic matter, which improves soil structure and aeration, increases water and nutrient holding capacity, and promotes microbial activity for increased soil fertility |
| • |
Reduced likelihood of plant “burning” from over application of fertilizers |
The application of organic fertilizer to home gardens and lawns, or on a larger scale such as agricultural crops, is a proven environmentally sound method for recycling nutrients and improving soil
